EM Org. members attended a tabletop to learn how to properly triage patients using START Triage protocols, and mastered several skills to prepare for the big mass casualty incident (MCI) sim!
As the largest simulation ever hosted at ICOM, students from 8 clubs had the opportunity to participate in a mock MCI. Check out the "About" page to learn more!
Club members volunteered their time to help support a local foodbank.
EM Org. and Anesthesia Interest Group (AIG) teamed together to host multipke leaders and innovators in the world of airway devices to give ICOM students the opportunity to learn and practice vital skills, such as intubation, cricothyrotomy, and more.
Students got to put the skills they learned and mastered at the Advanced Airway Lab just a few days prior to the test!

With the changes in Step/Level 1’s grading system, many students are concerned about how this will impact their applications to residency. Dr. Galuska, a program director for a formerly AOA-associated emergency medicine residency program, spoke to students about the most current guidelines and recommendations for a successful residency match into emergency medicine.

ICOM EM Org. collaborated with ICOM SOMA to host the Idaho Central District Health to discuss opioid prevention.
Dr. Kshetrapal provided EM Org. members with information about the pediatric subspecialty of emergency medicine. She discussed how pediatric EM differs adult EM, the stability of the pediatric EM job market, the route to pediatric EM, and more.
This event was aimed at providing students interested in emergency medicine with information regarding fellowships in emergency medicine. This included the types of fellowships, program lengths, “day-in-the-life”, and more.

This event was meant to give OMS-I students and new members of the club an opportunity to learn about the field of emergency medicine. Dr. Brandecker spoke about what steps students should be taking during their time at ICOM to best prepare for a successful career in emergency medicine.

Dr. Herman gave a presentation on IV fluid resuscitation in the ED followed by information on the new EM residency program that was started at Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
