Hi! My name is Allison Willner, and I am currently a senior at Rock Canyon High School. I am so excited to begin my research journey this year.
Academically, I am interested in history, politics, and law, and I have had the opportunity to explore these passions throughout high school in various classes including AP World History, AP United States History, AP US Government, and AP European History. These classes have taught me how fascinating the nuances of our history are, and they have truly made me appreciate the past. I believe understanding history is vital because it best equips us as citizens to understand and change the world.
I also have participated in many activities that have enriched my passions including speech and debate - I am a national quarterfinalist in Congressional debate - National History Day, Teen Court, and Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. I hope to continue my studies of these topics in college next year where I want to study history and business in preparation for law school.
Beyond my academic interests, I have been in choir for the past twelve years and love singing.
My research typology is conceptual theorist which emphasizes looking at ideas from multiple angles and finding connections. It also encourages academic conflict in conversation in order to forge new discoveries. This aligns perfectly with the research I will be conducting because I am analyzing Civil Rights Supreme Court cases in a new way in order to attempt to discover new connections.
