The effects of climate change are being observed all over the earth. Part of the reason for climate change is global warming which is enhanced by the increase in concentration of greenhouse gases. As per the Global Monitoring Laboratory, amongst the greenhouse gases, CO2 is the major contributor, approximately 75%. CO2 levels have increased dramatically by 50ppm in the past few decades, but what is more worrisome is the rate of increase of CO2 levels. A recent study showed that the annual increase is about 100 times faster when compared to increase in CO2 after the end of the last ice age. Many countries around the world are pledging to reduce their carbon footprint, in accordance with the Paris Accord. The current administration has signed the Paris Accord making it more important for us to come up with means of reducing carbon emissions. There has been no experimental data in literature done that showed direct temperature increase as CO2 concentrations were increased. Therefore, this project provides a means of experimentally exploring the rate at which temperature increases when CO2 levels increase.
