Officer Troy Stembel from the Castle Rock Police Department was interviewed for this spread, and the responses below are his answers to the questions asked. The black text is my questions and the red text are his answers.
The left-hand page depicts the existence of good cops in the world and the supportive nature of their community. The black lives matter movement emerged due to various incidents of excessive force and police brutality. The popular phrase that originated concerning cops was ACAB, which implies that all cops are bastards. However, this page aims to refute this notion and emphasize that numerous cops execute their duties competently, serve their communities and country well, and believe in safeguarding every citizen.
The opposite perspective is portrayed on the right page. While not all cops are considered to be bastards, it highlights the need to hold accountable those who act unjustly. The page showcases various examples of excessive force being utilized, including graphic depictions such as the camera footage of the George Floyd incident involving former Officer Derek Chauvin and the body camera footage from the violent murder of Tyre Nicholes. Additionally, there are images captured during black lives matter protests. The spread also includes a picture from the early 1940s, which demonstrates that this problem has existed throughout history.
