Project Overview
My main research goal is to find how and why size accessibility in clothing in specific stores for teenagers vary more than others. I am also investigating the inclusivity range of each store I select. I am measuring this through a DEI scale. This stands for diversity, equity and inclusion. My research question that will be leading my research will be: How do current size inclusivity practices in trendy teen stores address the needs of teens in diverse sizes? After conducting some research with articles from TeenVouge, Seventeen Magazine, Thredup, College Fashion the top trendy stores were most commonly Urban Outfitters, American Eagle, Hollister, and Pacsun. As a result these are the stores I will be focusing on as they are classified as the most "trendy" for teens. Each store has their own idea of inclusivity and various brand imagining they present. Teens across the country all face struggles in finding clothing that fits and represents all unique body types.

The Gap
My research aims at illuminating what stores are the best fit for teen shoppers. The gap in my research would be the age demographic. Most of the studies I have seen so far are only focused on older women and don't explore the clothing limitations for men or younger groups. The studies are also not numerically centered and mostly focused on what consumers think of the brands. The studies are not focused on the online website of the stores, instead they focus on the brand image on their social media and the in store experience. Thus, my research would be addressing the gaps of representation in the fashion industry and finding the best stores for adolescents to shop from.
