Women's Roles in the Bible

Research Introduction

For my project, I aim to research and draw conclusions between the way women are portrayed in the Old Testament compared to the New Testament. I will code using three main aspects; including, whether they hold formal or informal roles (judge/military leader vs. mother), moral example (whether they serve as a positive or negative example overall), and if they have an encounter with a divine power (Jesus, God, or Angels). These different categories will allow me to determine the role that each women plays, allowing us to draw conclusions about the books overall and then I am further able to compare the Old and New Testaments to notice similarities and differences. With my data, I will be able to draw conclusions about the way the Bible and Christianity portray/value women. 

I am able to conduct this research as there is a scholarly gap in this conversation. Conducting previous research I was able to observe that there are no scholarly journals or research on this topic but instead just articles written by religiously affiliated companies. I hope to fill this gap by presenting peer reviewed and unbiased research.
