The divider for this year's yearbook was my first page assignment for the yearbook as the Editor-In-Chief. I think that this spread showed my abilities to come up with a great design and to write a great copy. In the end, I think that the divider turned out excellent and really shows how well I could put my skills as a journalist onto a spread.
The opening spread was also one of my solo assignments for this year's yearbook. I think that this spread really shows my abilities to write well and to write with the same voice the book has.
For this spread in the 2023-2024 book, all of the photos in the 3-photo package were shot by me. The photos were taken of one of our school's assembly games, Hungry Hungry Hippos. The event was super fun to watch. I think that these photos showed some of my best qualities as a photographer because I was able to capture action, reaction, and character through these photos, and I think that the story of this event was told pretty well through the photos that I shot.
As a part of the yearbook staff, my job is to cover all the stories from the year. This photo shows my capabilities as a photographer to be able to shoot the full story of an event as well to cover all of the stories that this year had to tell. This way, we can cover the entire story from the year.
This spread was one of the last spreads I worked on as a 7th grader. I think that this spread showed some of my best storytelling abilities because I picked photos that covered all parts of the story for each event I covered. Looking back, the only thing I would have changed is the story on the bottom for a spirit week. Instead of people just standing there, I wish I would have had them do a fun pose to create a happier mood.
I think that this spread shows my best example of an alternative presentation spread. I think that throughout that year, a lot of people may have overlooked these small details, but I think that they were an important part to telling the 2023 school year's story. This spread shows my capabilities create a great design for the unique story I was aiming to tell.
The Twins & Triplets spread from the 2023 yearbook was my first yearbook assignment since joining the yearbook staff in 2022. This spread shows my ability to cover stories from more than just a few people throughout the year, as we told a story about every single twin and triplet from that school year. This page assignment was also something I did almost entirely by myself.
