Students should have scored an 85 or higher on the Biology and Chemistry Regents Exams and earned grades of 90 or better in each.
The Advanced Placement Biology course is equivalent to a two-semester college introductory biology course. The revised AP Biology course focuses on inquiry based learning of essential concepts to capture the important work that scientists engage in. The students will develop advanced inquiry and reasoning skills, such as designing a plan for collecting data, analyzing data, applying mathematical routines, and connecting concepts in and across domains.
Students are expected to complete laboratory exercises and construct reports on a weekly basis. Homework and quizzes are given when appropriate. Exams follow major units of study. Students are required to take the AP examination in May.
