media

Media Studies revision will be determined by the quality of the notes that you have created over the two years of the course! You can send these home or print out selected files. Specifically..... Look at REPRESENTATION, AUDIENCE, CONVERGENCE and OWNERSHIP, INDUSTRIES AND CONTROL.

Ensure that you learn the terminology associated with Representation (Technical, Symbolic and Narrative). Consider audience theories from Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications Theory, Psychographic segmentation, Gramsci's Hegemony, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Galtung and Ruge.

Ensure you understand the complexities of convergence of media platforms, contexts, media industries, ownership and control.

Topics cover the two print adverts (This Girl Can and Quality Street), the James Bond posters (Spectre and Man with the Golden Gun) , the two magazine covers (GQ and Pride), the two newspaper pages from The Guardian and The Sun, situation comedy (The IT Crowd and Friends), Pokémon Go, The BBC, The Archers and the pop music videos,

Useful revision can be found by looking on the EDUQAS site. It is full of resources, annotated texts and questions. You can access this here.
