Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart of our operation! As a non-profit organization we rely on our amazing volunteers to help us with day to day operations. Volunteers come with many different talents and passions that can help us in our service to those experiencing food insecurity.

Volunteer Basics

Who can volunteer?

We take volunteers of all ages. Volunteers under the age of 16 need parental/adult supervision. School groups or organizations can make arrangements with the Pantry coordinator for group volunteer projects.

What times are volunteers needed?

8:00 am – 5:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

8:00 am – 8:00 pm on Thursday

Shifts are flexible and we will work with your availability.

How much time do I need to commit to the pantry?

Many of our volunteers have a scheduled time each week when they volunteer. Volunteer times generally range from 2 to 4 hours. Some of our volunteers come several times a week, while a few might just help once a month. We also work with groups that volunteer for a specific project.

How do I get started?

Contact the pantry by phone or email. Designated staff will arrange a time to tour our building, explain job duties and have you complete several short forms. Additional training/job shadowing for some positions may be required.

What types of volunteer jobs are there?

– Receptionist/client intake

Testimonials

The Richland Wilkin Backpack Program: A very simple program with a huge impact on the families it serves. Two counties, eleven schools, approx. 350 children. I can easily give a few hours of my time each week to help set-up and assist others with packing bags for these children so they don’t go hungry. Given the nature of food insecurity in the Richland and Wilkin Counties, it is important to provide food to families in need, especially those with children.

I find volunteering at the RWEFP so very rewarding. Many people are working very hard to support their families and the Food Pantry can help those families and individuals stretch their dollars for all the things they need. As a bonus, I have meet some other wonderful people who volunteer. Sharon and the volunteers do a great job. Come join the team!
