Surface Area
Students will understand that:
- The surface area of a composite object can be found by determining the sum of the surface area of each individual object and subtracting the area of overlap.
Essential Questions:
What is a composite object? What is overlap?
What is a right cylinder? What is a triangular prism?
General Outcomes:
- Students will describe the characteristics of 3D objects and 2D shapes, and analyze the relationships among them.
- Students will determine the surface area of a composite 3D object to solve problems.
