A Wellness Summit allows students to hear topics of interest and interact with speakers. In years past, these events assisted students in learning about wellness and how to apply mindful practices, empathy and thankfulness in their daily lives.

The sessions are conducted by individuals who have worked with youth routinely (i.e. Headstrong), the RCMP or are part of our RVS team. Our student leadership group created and decided on the topics of the sessions. We will have 10 -15 different sessions students can attend.

We are asking all students to attend four sessions of their choice.

Key Note Speaker: JD Hunter

From Dark To Light: Finding Purpose Amidst Mental Illness

Growing up, JD Hunter didn’t know much about mental health or mental illness. When a cataclysmic natural disaster hit, JD began a journey toward recovery. Though it got very dark and often hard to see the light, JD never gave up on his journey. Understanding the past helps us understand the present and future.

In this keynote session, you’ll learn the importance of being brave, reaching out and speaking up. Feel inspired and encouraged as you begin Summit Trails Wellness Summit 2023.

Agenda for the Day

Each session will be 45-60 min long.  Some sessions will be of a sensitive nature, so only grade 9 Discovery Trails students and Summit Trails students are allowed to attend.

9:15 am Start Time - don't be late!

Introduction and Speaker: JD Hunter

Attendance will be recorded in Zoom for each session.  We ask that for every session you attend,  please complete a Session Survey
