6th grade students are embracing the growth mindset together through the use of collaboration, creativity, and practice.This mural is an example of how capable children are when given the opportunity to express themselves in new and innovative ways.
Students reviewed the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Students will discuss what makes a good composition and will practice illustrating the art elements.
6th grade students created Cubist Portraits. Students combined the facial features from different viewpoints into one “complete” face. Students used geometric simplified shapes and exaggerated the flat planes of the face, like the area under the eyes and forehead.
7th grade students were inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings. They enlarged and cropped the object until it filled the whole paper.
Students utilized the techniques of proportion, shape and form to create symmetrical half face drawings and will practice drawing a still life using foam building blocks. They will be able to recognize values and create values using line, pattern and simulated textures. As well as develop contrast through values.
