ACHIEVE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Your child is invited! Belfast Elementary School is proud to offer the ACHIEVE Before/Afterschool Program funded through the 21^st Century Community Learning Centers Grant. All students are eligible to participate at NO COST. The program provides a variety of age-appropriate activities designed to enhance academic, social, and emotional development set in a safe and nurturing environment. In addition to academic support, students will participate in fun, socially-engaging activities pertaining to health, arts, sports and recreation, cultural enrichment, service learning, and off-site field trips. The program is staffed and supervised by the site coordinator, certified teachers, and tutors. In addition, the program is designed to offer parental support services and programs.

The ACHIEVE Program:

The Before/Afterschool Program is held at Belfast Elementary School Monday through Friday in the mornings from 7:30 – 8:30 AM and in the afternoon Monday through Wednesday from 3:30 – 6:00PM. A healthy snack is provided each afternoon at no cost. While we focus first and foremost on academics, please understand that the program is a comprehensive academic support and learning enrichment program. We will be providing assisted homework help/ tutoring in the mornings and remediation/tutoring in the core areas of English, math, history, and science in the afternoons. In addition, your child may participate in an enrichment or structured recreation activity of their choice. The program will begin on Monday, September 12, 2022. A calendar of activities will be sent home prior to this date.

TRANSPORTATION:

Bus transportation home is available, but may be limited to particular stops. Please provide detailed directions to your home on the attached registration form. Your child is not required to ride the bus and you are more than welcome to provide your own transportation. However, if you prefer to provide your own transportation, your child must be picked up by 5:30PM each day. If you are late in picking up your child 3 times, your child may be required to ride a bus.

If you wish to have your child participate, please complete the attached registration form and return to the School Office before or by Monday, September 12, 2022. Please note that this is not a drop- in program; in order for your child to participate in this program and/or ride the bus, the registration form must be filled out, signed, and returned to your child’s school office. We are excited to be able to offer this program and want to assist in making this school year the best! Planning is underway for activities and bus routes, so it is very important to enroll as soon as possible.
