The Competency-based Credit Recover (CBCR) Program is a DPI and School Board approved diploma pathway offering modified curriculum in ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies based on the HSED Competencies of the YWCA-SEWI's HSED program.

The program comes in two varieties to meet student needs/wishes:

Semester-long cohorts covering ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies. Diploma is earned following completion of those cohorts, along with the state Health and Civics Test requirements

This option is available at participating High Schools

Self-paced program covering the above requirements, plus Phys Ed and Elective subject courses equating to a minimum of 18 credits.

This option is available at Racine Alternative Learning (RAL)

Program Graduation Requirements

All locations:
- 4 credits- English Language Arts (ELA)
- 3 credits- Math
- 3 credits- Science
- 3.5 credits- Social Studies
- 0.5 credit- Health
- Pass the WI State Civics Exam
RAL Location Only:
- 1.5 credits- Physical Education
- 2.5 credits- Any Additional Courses

Modified Core Subject-Area Curriculum

The curriculum for English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science and Social Studies has been modified to align with the 5.09 HSED Competencies utilized by the YWCA of Southeast Wisconsin. Rather than take several courses covering specific topics within each subject, students who are one credit or more from completing a subject-area graduation requirement will complete a single course for that subject area covering the required Competencies within the subject.

Students needing less than one credit in a subject area may complete the traditional courses necessary to earn that credit using Edgenuity, or by attending in-person classes.

On occasion, students may have opportunities to demonstrate proficiency in multiple subjects through common tasks (Example: Writing an essay on the Western Expansio of the United States to meet standards in ELA and Social Studies).
