The D. G. Ruparel College is a premier educational institution, established in 1952, and the Department of Chemistry has been there since inception. 03 faculty members from Chemistry department have graced the post of Principal of the college. 1. Late. Dr. N.V. Bhide (1965 to 1970), 2.Late. Dr. B.R. Shinde (1979 to 1985), 3.Dr. P.P. Kulkarni (2006 to 2010)


The department is university Centre for PG lectures of M.Sc.-II Organic Chemistry. The teacher of the department use conventional and computer aided pedagogical methods to make learning easy and effective. Research is an integrated part in the department of Chemistry. Several research projects have been computed by the staff and students. Faculty members as well as graduate and postgraduate students of the department publish their research work in various international and national journals. The faculty members regularly organize and also attend workshops/conferences/seminars. Field visits to Research Institutes / Organizations are also facilitated to bridge the gap between academics and market requirement.


‘CHEMARC’– Chemistry Association of Ruparel College is an Association of the department. Invited talks, competitions, career guidance, training and workshops are some of the activities conducted under this Association. The department has a departmental library having more than 335 reference books to facilitate easy access to the study material.
