Hi, I'm Lauren Butler and I teach Health, Physical Education and the Intro to Athletic Training Course at Rumson Fair Haven High School.
I went to Montclair State University from 2001 - 2005 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. As I worked as the Head Athletic Trainer at David Brearley High School, I attained my Masters in Exercise Science with a specialty in rehabilitation and earned my Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification. From there, I worked as the Head Athletic Trainer at Metuchen High School. During my time there, I went Alternate Route through Jersey City University to obtain my K-12 Teaching Certificate of Health and Physical Education. I switched to teaching Health & PE full-time in 2010 and have enjoyed teaching a variety of physical activities, cooperative games and health topics.
When I first started here at RFH, I was asked to create a health care related course and I designed the Intro to Athletic Training elective, which has quickly become one of my favorite classes to teach as it combines my love and passion for both sports medicine and teaching. I also became the Health Care Career Club Advisor. Our club is responsible for decorating the monthly health bulletin board, combining bake sales with health awareness months, running events like the Annual Blood Drive, the Feminine Product Drive, and the Be the Match Awareness event.
