In 1973, Ramkhamhaeng University initiated the establishment of Faculty of Science and began admitting students into the Bachelor of Science program (B.Sc.) across 5 disciplines: Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

On January 2, 1974, Faculty of Science was officially established by Thai government, marking the formal beginning of undergraduate education in chemistry within the department.

In 1989, Department of Chemistry launched the Master's degree program, offering a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Chemistry.

In 2002, Department of Chemistry further expanded the academic offerings by introducing a Doctoral program, awarding a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Chemistry.

In 2022, Department of Chemistry introduced a new Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program in Cosmetic Chemistry and Natural Products, reflecting our commitment to addressing emerging fields and industry needs.

Today, Department of Chemistry continues to offer a wide range of chemistry-related courses to students across various other programs and faculties. These include students from Radiologic Technology Program, Faculty of Engineering, Optometry Program within the Institute of Health Sciences, and various technology-related programs within Faculty of Science. Additionally, the Department of Chemistry at Ramkhamhaeng University provides opportunities for students from other institutions to enroll in specific courses. This option is available when their home institutions do not offer certain courses in particular semesters. This flexibility allows students to complete their required coursework and graduate on time from their respective institutions.
