Friday 13th June- Native Readers
To Infinity & Beyond
Over this topic we will be learning all about two of our favourite things...space and superheroes!
Superheroes' Listening Ears
Superheroes need to have
really good listening skills.
Can you think why they need super listening to be a good superhero?
Let's practise our listening skills while playing the 'Simon Says' game.
Now let's really see
if we have superhero listening.
Let's ring the chime.
Stand up and listen carefully.
Close your eyes for better concentration.
Sit down
when you can no longer hear the chime.
Following the Instructions
Pass the Message Game
Playing in the small group, sit in a circle.
The teacher whispers a sentence in one child's ear.
The child has to whisper to the person next to them,
and the last person needs to follow the instruction.
This week, we will dive into the fascinating concept of doubling single-digit numbers. Doubling means adding two identical numbers together. To make it even more engaging, the children will explore doubling and counting together using the Numicon, focusing on numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Join us for an interactive and enjoyable math adventure!
Let’s sing a doubling number song together!
Join us as we play the exciting Memory Game of Doubling. Test the children's memory skills and match the doubled images for a thrilling doubling challenge.
Now it's time to test the children's doubling abilities with our Robot Doubling Machine. With the assistance of our incredible robot, children will double numbers in a flash.
Today we are going to think of some different ways that we can describe our superhero - Supertato.
Have a look at Supertato. Can you think of some words to describe him. Big sparkling smile, black mask, flying red cape, red boots. What about his qualities? brave, smart and clever, super strength, kind, heroic, courageous, resilient, inspiring, unstoppable.
Keep referring back to the story to help children with this. Question: Why is he kind? Why is he brave?
You can listen to the story again here- Supertato
Can you draw a picture of supertato in the middle of aq piece of paper and write some words to describe him. Could you write some sentences too?
Growing Up
I understand that we all grow from babies into adults.
Does anyone have a baby in their home? What can a baby do for themselves? What do they eat? How do they move about? Remember we all were babies but we have been doing lots of growing. Let’s think about all the things that you can do now that you couldn’t do when you were a baby.
Tapestry focus -
this week we will focus on Child- led activities in class and outside. What are the children's interests? How are they developing skills?
