Here at Rugby School Thailand, we follow the British Curriculum. Pre-Nursery (aged 2-3 years) Nursery (aged 3-4 years) & Reception (aged 4-5 years) together make the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and we follow the EYFS Statutory Framework to build our curriculum around to provide daily lessons that are age appropriate and to suite the needs and abilities of each individual child in our care.
Your child's educational journey is carefully planned out by our experienced and knowledgeable teachers on 3 different levels.
Long Term Plans-Create an overview of the year by setting themes and topics individual to each year group, setting special themed days, trips and events to further enhance your child's learning.
Medium Term Plans-Teachers to look at each topic/theme and decide which skills will be taught for each topic, ensuring that all areas of learning are taught equally.
Short Term Plans-These are weekly plans, with clear lessons and activities that help your child to learn specific skills. These lessons are uploaded onto your child's year group pages each week so that you can follow all the wonderful learning taking place.

EYFS is broken down into two areas; Prime Area and Specific Area. The Prime Areas are considered to be the basis of all learning and your child needs a strong ability in these areas in order to have the skills and abilities to succeed in their Specific Areas of learning. In Pre-Nursery and Nursery, your child will spend a lot of their academic focus on the Prime Areas of learning.

Your Child's spoken language development is crucial for their overall learning and development. By promoting interactive conversations, providing language-rich environments, and engaging them in reading, storytelling, and role play, educators can effectively build your child's language skills, vocabulary, and language structures.
Your Child's personal, social, and emotional development (PSED) is essential for their well-being and cognitive growth. Building strong and supportive relationships with adults helps them to understand their own feelings and the emotions of others, enabling them to manage emotions, set goals, gain self-confidence, and develop important social skills such as friendship, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
Physical activity is crucial for your child's overall development, promoting happy and healthy lives. Through a progression of sensory explorations, gross and fine motor experiences, and play with objects and adults, your child can develop core strength, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and agility. These skills lay the foundation for healthy bodies, social-emotional well-being, hand-eye coordination, early literacy, and fine motor control.

Developing a lifelong love for reading is crucial for all children, encompassing language comprehension and word reading. Language comprehension is nurtured through adults engaging in conversations, sharing books, and enjoying rhymes, poems, and songs together, while skilled word reading involves decoding unfamiliar words and recognising familiar ones. Additionally, writing involves both transcription (spelling and handwriting) and composition (expressing ideas and structuring them orally before writing).
A solid numerical foundation is crucial for all children's mathematical excellence. They should develop confidence in counting, a deep understanding of numbers up to 10, and the ability to recognise patterns and relationships. By providing diverse opportunities for hands-on learning and using tools like tens frames, children can build a secure knowledge base, while also nurturing spatial reasoning skills. It is essential to cultivate positive attitudes towards mathematics, encouraging exploration, pattern recognition, open discussions, and embracing mistakes.
Guiding your child to understand the world involves expanding their personal experiences, from visits to parks, libraries, and meeting community members. Additionally, exposure to a diverse range of stories, non-fiction, rhymes, and poems enhances their cultural, social, technological, and ecological understanding while enriching their vocabulary, ultimately supporting reading comprehension in the future.

Regular engagement with the arts, including exploring various media and materials, is essential for their understanding, self-expression, vocabulary, and communication skills.
