BOOK DAY - Thursday 7th March
It's a magical day when books come alive!
It's one of our favourite days!
Come to school dressed as your favourite character.
Let's see if your friends can recognise you.
And what about your teachers?
What book do they represent?
We visit our Pre-Prep Library
every week.
But what about our big friends
in the Senior School?
Do they have a library?
Let's go to have a look!
Are you ready to explore the world of dinosaurs?
Read Roar!
Dinosaurs come in all shapes and sizes, each with unique features suited to their diet and lifestyle. Carnivores like T-Rex had sharp teeth for tearing meat, while herbivores like Brachiosaurus had long necks to reach leaves high in trees.
Learn a song about dinosaurs
Now, let's have some fun together! Gather your toy dinosaurs (or pictures if you don't have toys), and let's play a game called Stand Up/Sit Down. Stand up if your dinosaur is green, has spikes, or any other feature mentioned. Let's see who has the most interesting dinosaur!
Explore creativity with our Lost Dinosaur Poster Activity! Draw and label your unique lost dinosaur on poster board or paper, enhancing both your artistic skills and knowledge of dinosaurs. Share your masterpiece with your friends and teacher.
We will read How Do Dinosaurs Count To Ten? by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague.
We will check which numbers are odd and which are even.
Being dinosaurs, we will work together to make our own version of the book, finding a matching amount of items for each number.
What is this numeral? How many does it represent?
Let's practise writing our numerals.
Dinosaur's Body Vocabulary
We are learning about dinosaurs' features this week.
There are many words that we can already read independently.
Use the word mat to read and learn
different dinosaur body parts.
Label the Dinosaur
After colouring your dinosaur,
use the new words that you learnt
to label different parts of the body.
You can cut the labels and glue them to the frames
or you can write the words by yourself.
Can you draw and label your own dinosaur?
Healthy Me
Everybody’s Body
Your teacher is going to act out three different sports…can you guess what they are?
I wonder why we need to exercise? Do you know why?
Shall we see what happens to our bodies when we exercise? Use this 1 minute timer and try running on the spot for the full minute. How do you feel? Have you noticed any changes in your body from before and after the exercise?
Tapestry focus - this week we will focus on book week activities in the classroom and photos of your child completing challenges.
