Role-play Everyday School Scenarios
Key Questions:
Who are you at school today (teacher, student, friend)?
What do we need to do in class?
How do we line up or get ready?
What do we say to the teacher or our friends?
What happens next in our school day?
This week we will be continuing to focus on accurate counting using one-to-one correspondence in a variety of different contexts.
We will also be learning the days of the week! There are so many lovely songs that can help us to remember, let’s see if we can sing one…
Each morning we will be taking a look at our class calendar. We will talk about the answer to questions like:
What day is it today?
What day will it be tomorrow?
What day was it yesterday?
If yesterday was the 3rd, today must be one more. What is one more than 3? 4! Yes! Today is the the 4th.
You can support this learning at home by talking about which day of the week it is as you are travelling to school. Talk about plans for tomorrow or family plans for the weekend. This will help your children begin to understand the concept of time and when to expect upcoming events.
Here are some easy ways to incorporate counting into your everyday home life with your child:
Ask your child to lay the table at dinner time by counting out the correct number of plates/bowls/ forks/spoons.
Count the number of steps from your car to your front door.
As you are driving into school, try to count the number of yellow or red cars you see along the way.
This week, we will be exploring feelings through the story In My Heart by Jo Witek.
Together, we will talk about different emotions, act them out, and share times when we feel the same way.
If you would like an extra challenge, you could talk about different feelings at home and draw or colour a heart to match.
This week, we are learning the sound

Simon Says Game
We will play a fun game of Simon Says to practise listening carefully and following simple instructions.
When we hear “Simon says touch your toes” or “Simon says clap your hands,” we copy the action.
If we hear an instruction without “Simon says,”
we have to stop and think!
This game makes listening exciting and helps us get ready for daily routines like lining up, tidying up, or washing hands.
Our Koala Way
Let's see why it is important to keep our hands to ourselves.
Can you think about other ways to get your friends' attention?
"Keep your hands to yourself" Role-Play
Children act out different scenarios with puppets.
Teacher guides discussion: “Was this safe? How can we change it?”
Emphasise empathy: “How would your friend feel?”
This week we will be focusing on independence with daily tasks and routines.
