Where Does It Come From?
Our shopping role play is allowing the children to use lots of language from our core text, Pete The Cat Goes To The Supermarket. The children will be thinking about which foods they would like to buy from a supermarket too.
Here is our Let's Go Shopping song.
Where Does It Come From?
Focus on the word where?
Listen to the video and learn where your food comes from. Does it grow on a plant, in the ground or from an animal?
Think about the last meal or
the snack that you ate.
Talking time
What was it? Where did each food come from?
Play a matching game on the worksheet
Where does our food come from?
We will read Ten Black Dots.
What do you see on each page? Can you subitise the dots? Use your fingers to represent how many there are.
We will play a game to find out what each number is made up of. Compositions are fun with the Numberblocks.
The children will work in small groups to play Bunny Ears.
Using your fingers like bunny ears. 'With two hands, show me five fingers. Can you do it in a different way?'
'Show five fingers altogether with a friend'.
Now that we know our topic story really well, can you make a story map?
Let's read the story one more time
to refresh our memory.
Our story map does not need to include every aspect of the story.
First, try to think of the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
You can add some more details.
Houses and Homes
"I can tell you why I think
my home is special to me."
We will learn about the different kinds of houses people live in around the world and how they relate to a culture, environment, and country.
Talking Time:
Where do you live?
What material is your house made of?
Would you rather live in a house or a flat when you grow up?
