Over this topic we will go on lots of adventures, starting with a bear hunt, a dinosaur hunt, a trip to the farm as well as a trip to the beach!
Core Story: We're Going to the Beach
Core Song: Over the Deep Blue Sea
Today we’re starting a new topic. We’ve already been to so many places - on a bear hunt, on a dino dig, to the farm and now I wonder where we’re going to?
Let’s use our listening ears to see if we can guess where we’re going….
That’s right, we’re going to the Beach!
Let's sing a counting song about the beach.
One of the things we can do at the beach is collect shells. Let’s count our shells into some buckets.
Do you remember where we’re going this week? Yes, the beach.
Have you been to the beach? What did you do there? Let's join Iris and her family on a trip to the beach. What can you hear?
One of our farm animal friends went to the beach - Goose. Let’s find out what he did?
I wonder what we would need to take with us if we went to the beach today? I know a song that might help us figure it out.
Goose and Sophie had a yummy ice cream when they were at the beach.
Let’s make our own ice lollies with fruit juice - yum!
Let’s share our beach story together again:
First, we visited the beach, then what did we find on the beach? Shells! Let’s have a closer look at the shells, there are so many colours, what colours can you see?
They are so colourful, like a rainbow! Let’s sing our rainbow song.
I have something very special in my bag, would you like to come and see what is inside?
It is a big beautiful shell!
Do you know if you hold the seashell to your ear, sometimes you can hear the ocean. Let’s pass the shell around the circle and take it in turns to see if we can hear the ocean.
Activity 1: Can you remember what we made yesterday?
Ice lollies!
Shall we go to the freezer and see if they are ready to eat!
Activity 2: Let's choose our favourite shell shape and print it into our air-dry dough.
We will leave them out overnight to dry and go hard.
Here is a bucket, let’s look what we have inside, some shells! Let’s count out the felt seashells and put them onto our felt board. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Now we are ready to join in with our seashell rhyme:
Now it is your turn to build a sandcastle.
Try and use your concentration skills to create a beautiful sandcastle.
We can use shells to decorate it
