We're Going....on a Dino Dig
Over this topic we will go on lots of adventures, starting with a bear hunt, a dinosaur hunt, a trip to the farm as well as a trip to the beach!
Core Story: We're Going on a Dino Dig
Core Song: Dinosaur Stomp
Can you remember last week the book we were reading? ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. Well, today we have a new book to read, which is similar but we are not hunting for bears, we are hunting for something else…let’s take a peek and see what is hiding!
Let's read our story together:
We can also join in with this fun dino hunt repetition chant:
Quick! Look outside the window, I think I can see some dinosaurs, let’s grab a bucket and take a look outside and see if we can find some dinosaurs.
There are 6 dinosaurs hiding in our playground can we find them all?
Once we have found them all let’s see what colours they are.
Ohhh I have a special surprise in my magic bag, who would like to come and see what is inside?
What did you find? An egg? Is there something inside the egg? Let’s open it and see…a dinosaur.
Did you know some dinosaurs came from eggs?
Now shall we get our egg shakers out and sing some songs with them?
Today we are going to use our splodger art pens to create a speckled look for our very own dinosaur eggs.
I wonder, can you name the colours that you have chosen for your egg?
Today we have a special dinosaur that is fast asleep, shall we wake it up, wakey wakey…look who it is…it’s a ‘T-rex’
Let's sing a dinosaur song all about a t-rex family…
What sound do you think the T-rex makes?
Roar!
Let’s read this dinosaur book with sound buttons and find out.
I can dance like a dinosaur!
This dinosaur needs some pointy spikes.
Can you help him put them on?
