We're Going....on a Bear Hunt
Over this topic we will go on lots of adventures, starting with a bear hunt, a dinosaur hunt, a trip to the farm as well as a trip to the beach!
Core Story: We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Core Song: We're Going on a Bear Hunt Song
Today we are thinking about the Earth. With all the beautiful animals and nature we have.
OH NO! Have you seen all the plastic bottles littered in Ruby’s Garden!? That is not good for our wildlife at all!
Can you help us clean up our planet by picking up a bottle each?
Now, wouldn't it be better to use those water bottles for something, rather than just throwing them out!
Why don’t we use our bottles to recreate places from our special story ‘We’re Going On a Bear Hunt’.
Let’s read our story together to remember all the different places they go.
Today we are going to recycle our old water bottles to create some beautiful ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ sensory bottles. I wonder which ones we will create. We will use all sorts of different resources to create these. We will use lots of concept language such as big/small and more/less and lots or a little. How exciting.
Who can remember what book we are learning about this week?
That’s right! ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.
This is the story told by its author Mr Michael Rosen.
Didn’t he move in lots of different ways when telling the story.
What different ways can you move?
Let's get inspired by our song.
Today we are going to move our bodies a lot, in our sensory walk!
In our story, we went through:
Long wavy grass,
Deep cold river,
Thick oozy mud,
Big dark forest,
Snowstorm,
and then we reached ...
a Narrow, gloomy cave!
We have turned our story into a sensory walk.
Can we be bold enough and walk through the swishy swashy grass, through the sticky mud and through the icy snowstorm?
How did it feel?
Did you like that feeling?
Today we can sing and move to a different type of bear…a Gummy Bear!
Let’s have a close look at these gummy bears, what colours can you see?
Now let’s have a picnic on our parachute with our teddy bears, what colour is your teddy sitting on?
Now we can take our teddy bears on a fun parachute journey, can we bounce them, can we walk in a circle with them, can we make them jusp so high? All in time with this traditional polka music.
Gummy Bear Craft
One shiny wet nose!
Two big furry ears!
Two big googly eyes!
IT'S A BEAR!!!
Can you spread lots of glue onto your bear shape and add some colourful tissue paper to make it all nice and colourful just like our gummy bears, what colour will you choose?
Let’s sing a song together
In our song we sang about a Teddy Bear, who can remember the story that we are learning about? It also has a bear in it too!
After listening to the story our classroom Teddy Bears are ready for bed.
Let’s sing a song about being in bed - be careful teddies that you don't fall out!
10 in the bed
We have some more teddy bears hiding again this week, but this week they are colourful! Can you help to find them? How many did we find? I wonder if you can tell me what colours the bears are?
Today we are celebrating our Teddy Bears Picnic in school. It is so exciting to see everyone dressed in their pyjamas and bear costumes. Did any of you bring in a teddy bear from home to come and join out picnic fun? If so, find your bear and help it to join in with these songs:
It’s time for our Teddy Bears Picnic!
