Over this topic we will go on lots of adventures, starting with a bear hunt, a dinosaur hunt, a trip to the farm as well as a trip to the beach!
Core Story: We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Core Song: We're Going on a Bear Hunt Song
Today we are going to be looking at a new story ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt.’ Let’s read/sing it together.
Today we are going to go on our own bear hunt around the classroom to try and find some bears. Once we have found them all we can count and see how many we have found! But first, let’s practice our counting skills.
Today we have a very exciting job to do, we are going on a bear hunt of our own.
Let’s get our binoculars and have a close look around the classroom and see if we can find the hidden bears.
Once we have found all the bears can we can count them to see how many we have found? Let's pop them into a 5 frame and do some counting of our own.
Today we are going to listen to Michael Rosen tell us the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. Michael Rosen is the person that wrote this story!
Now let’s read the story together but this time can you help join in with the actions?
I have a funny song about a bear hunt, let’s learn and sing it together!
In our story we read about some swishy swashy grass!
Let’s go and explore outside, can we find some grass? Let’s take our shoes and socks off and feel the grass with our feet.
What does it feel like? Is it tickly?
Now for a big job, let’s try and get our socks and shoes back on ourselves.
Today I want to share something special with you and this will give you a clue about the song we will sing!
Mmmm who is in the picture, do you think this is Mummy Bear, and who are these little friends here, could they be her children?
In today's song, we will sing about a family of bears; Mummy, Daddy, Brother, Sister and Baby.
Yesterday we felt the grass with our feet but today we are going to paint a bear with our feet, how amazing!
What colour paint do you think would be good for a bear... brown!
We will paint your foot brown and make a print. Once the paint is dry we can add 2 eyes, 2 ears and 1 mouth.
Who can remember what our new story is? That’s right ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’
Let’s look at the dog's face in the story when it met the bear.
How do you think the dog was feeling? How about the bear on the last page, how do you think it is feeling?
Today we are going to look at our different feelings. Let’s remind ourselves of the different emotions with these songs:
