Today we have a special story. All about a little Goose who visits the Zoo… I wonder what animals Goose might see?
Let's make our own zoo map and see what animals are hiding in the enclosures!
Slowly, let's lift the containers to see what animal is hiding inside. Careful! Some of them bite :)
Wow! I can’t believe we found a snake! How cool! Would Goose have liked to see a snake in his zoo? Today we are going to make a snake of our own.
Let’s make our own snake.
Can we make a pattern with the stickers?
What colours shall we use?
Who can remember what we have been learning about? That’s right ‘The Jungle’, we have learnt all about monkeys and elephants. I wonder what animal it will be this week…let’s take a look!
I wonder what’s in my mystery bag?
It’s a …..snake!
Let’s read a story about a snake.
This week is also a very special week in many countries as we celebrate the Lunar New Year which will be the year of the snake! Many countries celebrate this special event. Let’s watch this short clip to learn about the different ways we can celebrate this special event.
Did you notice what food is given at this time of the year...that is right, oranges! Today we are going to be counting out oranges at our playdough table. Let’s count some out together.
We can get some extra counting practice in with this fun 'Counting 1-5' song!
When it is Lunar New Year, what colours do we see? We see lots of red and yellow. We are going to use these colours to create a class Lunar New Year snake!
First, can you all use a sponge and sponge paint red and yellow onto the paper. Once it is all dry we can stick on a large slippery snake!
Today let’s share together a story:
Bringing in the New Year-Listen
Bringing in the New Year-Watch
Did you see all the beautiful dragons and lions, let’s see some real dragon dancing see if you can spot Miss Sophie!
Today we are going to create some beautiful dragons of our own using our hands! Watch your teacher carefully as they demonstrate how to do this art piece.
Let’s dance like a dragon….
And read a story about a dragon...
Activity 1: Let’s do some lion dancing of our own. Who would like to be the head and who would like to be the bottom? Now let’s dance to the music!
Activity 2: Today let's make some dragons of our own! What colours can we use? Red, orange and yellow are great fire colours! We can use our hands to paint...how does it feel?
Let’s all practice taking off our shoes and socks! Now can you take your sock and put it on your hand? Now wiggle your hand around and hiss like a snake! Now I think you are ready for our 2 snake songs!
Let's read this story all about a hungry snake.
Can you count forward as we put mice in the jar?
And what about counting backwards as we pull them out of the jar?
Let’s see if we can retell today's story.
Can you remember what happened first?
How many mice did the snake find?
Can you help your teacher catch the mice and put them in the jar?
Now what did the mice do?
