All About Me
We will learn all about ourselves, our bodies and our feelings.
Core Story: 10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes
Core Song: Heads, Shoulders Knees and Toes
There were lots of feelings in our song; happy, tired, scared and angry. What do we do in the song when we feel angry? We stamp our feet. I wonder if there are other things we could do to calm down?
Let’s read a story about a monkey who was feeling angry and upset.
What did the monkey do to calm down?
Let’s find some ways we can calm down.
We’re going to take 5 deep breaths. We can count them as we go.
Oh no the monkey looks hungry! Shall we feed it some bananas? Can you see something special about our bananas? They have shapes on, let’s see if you can recognise and then name the shapes as we feed them to the monkey!
Let’s sing one of our favourite songs.
Wasn’t that exciting! We didn’t just go bananas but we popped the corn too.
Let’s play popcorn with our parachute
Now we have had lots of excitement let’s calm down. Can you lie down on the carpet and listen to the music and how it goes from fast to slow and calm? Your teachers will move the parachute over the top of you in time with the music.
Now we can learn the Makaton sign for ‘Calm’. When we are feeling sad or angry we can use our Makaton sign for calm to try and calm ourselves down.
Did you enjoy moving the parachute along to the tune of ‘popcorn’? Well today we have something very exciting to do, we are going to make popcorn! Let’s have a look at the popcorn…can we eat it? Why not? What do we need to do first before we can eat it? We need to cook it! Let’s take a trip to the kitchen and watch the popcorn cook in the microwave! Now it is all cooked we can share out the popcorn and eat it...yummy!
Let’s watch this fun popcorn popping movie whilst we eat our popcorn
Do you know how to say hello in all the different countries we come from?
Let’s watch this song to find out.
Yesterday we had a special treat to eat.
Today we are going to look at food from different countries.
Do you recognise any of the food?
Tomorrow we will have a very special day. It will be International Day and we will be wearing different clothes. All our families will want to see our beautiful clothes so we will have a parade. Let’s practice together with all the Pre-Nursery classes parading along our big red path in The Oval.
Wow - everyone looks amazing in their International Day clothes.
Do you remember our song from yesterday? Shall we say Hello to all our friends using languages from around the world.
We are going to be eating so much yummy food from around the world today! Let’s play this fun guess the food game!
Today we are celebrating all the countries that we are from, but what country do we live in?
That's right, Thailand.
One of Thailand's yummiest dishes to eat is mango and sticky rice.
Today we are going to make our own mango and sticky rice to eat for our morning snack.
Let’s check out our Makaton Signs for the week: Home, School & Toilet
This week we will see how our children manage their emotions while dealing with an out of routine day, International Day.
