All About Me
We will learn all about ourselves, our bodies and our feelings.
Core Story: 10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes
Core Song: Heads, Shoulders Knees and Toes
This week we are going to be learning all about some different body parts. Let’s sing this song to see if you can guess what we are learning about this week:
Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
In our song we sang about; eyes, ears, mouth and a nose. Where can we find those body parts...on our faces! This week we are learning all about our faces.
Today's challenge is to see if we can make a face using shapes! I wonder what shapes we could use, let’s sing this shape song to remind us of the shape names:
Today we are going to make some faces using shapes.
Look we have a big felt circle shape and this will be the face.
Let’s look in the mirror…What can you see on your face? 2 eyes, 1 nose and 1 mouth.
I wonder what shapes you think would work best to make your own felt shape face.
Do you remember what we made yesterday? Shall we give you a clue? Singing; eyes and ears and mouth and a nose! We made shape faces! Well today we are going to be making some more faces of our own! Some happy faces, sad faces and sleepy faces while singing this song:
Now we are going to make some more faces but first let's all take one dancing scarf each. Our challenge is when we sing ‘boo’ we must reveal either a happy or sad face. Let’s go!
Now let's try something even trickier! Let’s play 'Say Cheese' with our dancing scarves and each time we say ‘cheese’ we need to listen for the emotional facial expression we need to make.
Look we have a teddy bear, let's see if we can point to the different face parts.
Can you find the bear's ears? Can you find the bear's eyes? Can you find the bear's mouth?
If we know all of these then why don’t we sing this fun song together too and practice even more body parts:
How are you feeling today?
Let’s read a book about feelings. Can you tell how the babies are feeling from their faces?
Read - Baby Feelings
Look at my Emoji felt face. What feeling is showing? Happy, Sad, Angry, Silly?
Now that we can name and recognise some emotions, we are going to see how WE look when we are happy, sad or angry.
Let’s take some selfies while making faces showing different emotions.
