People Who Help Us
We will learn all about the people in our communities that help us.
Core Story: Emergency by Margaret Mayo
Core Song: Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Firetruck
What are we learning about?
People who help us.
We have looked at people who have helped us in an emergency, people who help us stay healthy and people who help us at school.
This week we are learning all about the people who help us at home.
Can you think of people who help you at home?
Who helps you do these jobs at home; cook food, wash your clothes, clean your bedroom, read a bedtime story, drive you to school?

Let’s use building blocks to build our home.
How many people live in your home?
Who else helps in the home...cleaner, cook, gardener, driver?
Now lets count how many people help in our home.
Before you came to school today did you have breakfast? Yes, who made your breakfast? Shall we try and do some cooking of our own, let's see what we will make today!
Before we cook what must we remember to do? Wash our hands, let's sing our washing hands song together.
Can you remember a song we sang about bananas, that’s right let's sing the ‘Go Bananas’ song!
In pairs, let's follow this simple recipe to make yummy and simple cookies.

Remember to wash your hands!
What are the chores that need to be done in and around the house?
Who helps us clean our houses?
Mystery Bag: What is in side my bag, who would like to come and find something? What did we find? Some blocks, a dustpan and brush, a cloth, a dish and a sponge, a saucepan with some food inside. All of these are things that we do around our home! We can pick up our toys, sweep the floor, wipe the table, wash the dishes and cook the food.
Let's sing the song "This Is the Way We ..." where we sing about all the different jobs we can do in our homes!
We are big children who try to take care of ourselves by dressing and undressing, putting on and off our shoes, feeding ourselves and washing our hands with no help from adults!
Can you put your shoes on & off all by yourself?
We do love our families. They bring us so much joy. I wonder if you can tell me about the people in your family? Let’s have a look at the pictures on our screen and see who you recognise!
Wow, your families all look so wonderful! It would be lovely if we could make a special card to show our families how much we love them! What shape has your teacher made with your stickers? That's right, she made a heart! If you add more stickers to the card during continuous provision then your teacher can cut out enough hearts for everyone to take home.
Then you can tell your families how much you love them.
Today we are going to make a very special card to tell our families that we love them! We will use stickers to decorate our cards. What colour is the sticker? What shape is the sticker?
Let’s check out our Makaton Signs for the week: Ice-cream, Cake & Chocolate.
Let’s take a look at this week's preparation for writing programme - Wiggle me into Squiggle. This week's action is:
Wriggle me into a Squiggle Song Sheet
Our 'Sound Song' this week is for the letter 'A'
This week our Tapestry focus will be; can show an increasing desire to be independent such as wanting to feed themselves and dress or undress; can I put my shoes on by myself? Can I feed myself?
