Today we are going to learn how to plant seeds.
First, Let’s read a book about planting seeds. This book is called 'The Enormous Turnip' and it is about a farmer who plants a seed in the ground and it grows into an enormous turnip. Can you show me enormous with you hands? Yes, so big, enormous, well done!
Now, I am going to show you how to plant a seed and you all can help me.
First, we need to get our plant pots that we decorated beautifully earlier.
Then, we need to add some soil.
Using our fingers, we can make a hole in the soil.
Now, let’s put the seeds into the hole. How many seeds should we use? Let’s count them as we go.
Then we need to add more soil so that the seeds are covered up - bye, bye seeds!
What do you think the seeds need to grow big and strong? Yes, that’s right, they need water. Let’s use our watering cans and give the seeds some water.
What else do the seeds need? Yes, that’s right, they need the sun, sunlight. So, once we have planted our seeds, we can keep them outside in the sun so that they can grow very, very big.
We need to be Caring Koalas and take good care of our plants. We need to remember that every day, we need to water our plants to help it grow big and strong. We can check our plants each day to see if it has grown. I’m so excited to watch mine grow!
Activity 1
We are going to make a plant pot using a clear plastic cup and decorating it with flower stickers to make it beautiful and colourful. We will use a label to practise writing our name and stick it on the bottom so we know whose plant is whose.
Activity 2
We will all plant our very own seeds. Can we remember what we need to do?
We get our plant pot and add some soil.
We add some seeds and cover them with soil.
We will give our seeds some water.
We will put them outside in the sunlight.
We will be Caring Koalas by watering our plants every day and we can watch them grow big and strong.
Today is 100 days of school! That is 100 days of learning! Well done everybody!
Let’s have a look at all of your wonderful 100 days outfits.
What did you choose to represent 100?
When we look at our tens frame registers, we have blocks of 10. We would need 10 of these to make 100!
Here is what 100 dots looks like. Let’s take it in turns to colour in a dot.
It is a big number isn’t it!
We are working with the other Nursery classes to create a beautiful window display. Our topic is Get Growing so we are going to create some colourful flowers.
Each class is going to make 3 flowers - 2 big flowers with 10 petals on and 1 small flower with 5 petals on. This makes 25.
If we put all 4 classes together, we will have 100 petals!
You can decorate your petals anyway you like!
Sequins, glitter, paint, dot markers…
Today we went on a very special adventure, can you remember where? Yes, that is right we went to the fruit farm! Let’s read this book about different fruit and their colours!
Now, look on the carpet we have so many different fruit and vegetables, do you think you can help me sort them? Who can help me to find all of the yellow fruits and vegetables? Well done, now what colours shall we look for next? Let’s keep going until all the fruits and vegetables have been sorted!
Now we can finish off with this song about colours:
Today, we are going on a very exciting adventure! We are going on a bus to go and pick some special fruits called ‘mulberries’. Here is our schedule:

10:15: Can you find the bus? It is time to return to school!

Thursday: Butterflies & Elephants
My mystery bag is back! What do you think I’ve packed inside? Listen carefully to the sound…
That’s right, toys!
Let’s explore what toys I have and how many there are. How many cars were inside my mystery bag? Use your fingers to count carefully… Yes! Five.
Can you show five on your fingers? You could use all five fingers on one hand—wow! Or, you might show three fingers on one hand and two on the other. Maybe four fingers on one hand and one on the other.
No matter how you show it, the total is still five! There are so many ways to make five.
Now, I will move the toys into smaller groups. What do you see?
Can you spot three cars in one group and two in another? How many are there altogether?
It is time to play our seed game on our own whiteboards. Let's draw circles around different groups of seeds and tell what we can see. For example, 'I can see three seeds here and two there,' or 'I have 5 seeds altogether.
This week in Makaton we will be learning the signs for Gorilla, Tiger and Penguin
We’ve been practicing the spiral move in our squiggle dance this move is a little tricky so lets practice again. This time lets dance the letter with our flags, write the letter on the carpet and then move to the table to write it with the pens. Are you ready?
This week we have done some letter 'S' sound sorting in our provision. Lets sing this song about the 'S' sound.
This week will observe each child's individual interests and share some group photos of our trip to the Mulberry farm.
