People In Our Community
We will learn about all the people who help us in our school community.
Core Story: Whose Hands Are These?
Core Song: What do you do?
We also like singing:
Today we are learning about ‘full’, ‘half-full’ and ‘empty’. Let’s watch this video to help us understand.
I have some containers. Which one is big? Which one is small?’ Which one is tall? Which one is short?
Let's pour some coloured water into the containers. Demonstrate ‘full’, ‘half-full’ and ‘empty’. Let’s do it again! Who can tell me? Is this container ‘full’, ‘half-full’ or ‘empty’?
Let’s play a game. Let's go around in a circle and, one at a time, everyone can say if the container is ‘full’, ‘half-full’ or ‘empty’.
Outside Water Play
Set up a cafe with coloured water, clear glasses and bottles.
Let's pour water into the glass. Are they ‘full’, ‘half-full’ or ‘empty’.
Yesterday, can you remember what we made with our chalk? We made some special chalk paint. Today, We are going to use all of these different-sized paintbrushes to paint all along the floor in our tunnel! Who would like to join me? We need to use our big strong muscles in our arms and shoulders to draw…I wonder what you would like to draw?
Let’s read about some little mice who also love to paint!
The mice made and used lots of different colours in this story, let’s play this game to recap our colour names!
Look who has come to visit us today-the school cleaners. Can you use your listening ears while the cleaners tell you a little bit about their jobs and demonstrate how to wash the chalk paint off the tunnel floor? Now for the fun to start, you need to find your own cleaning tool, will you use a broom, a scrubbing brush or the spray bottle? Once you have chosen your cleaning tool you can help the cleaners by scrubbing away all of our chalk drawings that we made this morning.
Today we are going to try something fun…we will paint our friends using a shower loofah. Who would like to try 1st? Come and lay down on the carpet and I will paint you from your head to your toes.
I will say, “I am painting your head” and then “I am painting your neck”. And I will paint your body in this order: Head, neck, chest, stomach, right side, left side, right leg, left leg, right foot, left foot, right arm, left arm.
Now can you get into pairs and we will practice painting each other!
I have a story all about moving different body parts, let’s read and move along to the story together:
Now let’s sing a song about our body parts:
Self Portrait.
Look at your picture or look at the mirror. What can you see? Name the parts of the face.
Now, lets draw your face on the paper.
Today, we are going to play a name rhyming game.
I wonder if you can recognise your name when it sounds a little different?
Instead of Miss Lauren, I’d say Miss Nauren… Instead of Miss Amy, I’d say Miss Jamie.
"Wibbly Wobbly Woo an elephant sat on Mape.
Wibbly Wobbly Woo an elephant sat on Plorence."
Can you guess whose name rhymes:
Mape = Cape, Plorence = Florence.
Next we are going to read a rhyming story:
Can you fill in the final rhyming word?
Play Guess that sound.
Listen carefully to the sounds. Can you find the matching picture?
Small group/1-1 activity
Rhyming card game
Name each word: bee, tree, sea
Teacher to make up a silly sentence using 1 of the rhyming words and you can choose the correct rhyming word using multiple choice cards.
Can you repeat the sentence back to me?
Makaton- signs of the week.
This week we will be doing 'The Hump' in our squiggle dance. Do you remember doing the dance with your flappers last week? This week we are going to be making the marks on the tables! (write on tables with whiteboard pens- it can easily be cleaned off and can make this part of the cleaners topic this week)
Time filler songs- Cleaner themed songs
This week we will be observing gross motor skills in our cleaning activity.
