Can you remember what we have been learning about? That’s right, we have been learning all about the different creepy crawlies that live outside in our gardens.
Let’s take a look at this picture and see what we can see:
Did you spot some ants in that picture? Today we are going to learn all about ants!
Now let’s get our bodies moving with this fun ant song. Stand up and let's get marching!
Can you rememeber what insect we are learning about today? An ant! Today we are going to find our magnifying glasses and head outside and see if we can find some ants. Look closely, how many legs do they have, can you see its head? I wonder where the ants are going…can you see they are all walking in a row just like in our story today.
I have something special to show you that is hiding in my mystery bag. I will show you one part of this object at a time and let’s see, can you guess what is hiding in the mystery bag?
What is hiding…that’s right, it’s an ant! Let’s continue learning about ants. Can you remember in our song yesterday the ants were playing instruments. Why don’t we all choose one instrument to play (rhythm sticks, egg shakers, bells, drums, casternets) and see if we can play the instruments in time with our ant marching song.
What can you see in this picture from our book yesterday?
Ants and Apples, what sound do they start with…a…a…a! Let’s sing our ‘a’ sound song about apples.
Now let's learn about some other things that begin with the letter sound 'a'.
I have something in this box. Can you figure out what it is? I have 3 clues for you:
1: I have 6 legs
2: I live in the garden
3: I am really strong
It is an ant! What letter sound does ant begin with? A! I have lots of toy ants and;
Can you help your toy ants crawl along the letter sound A?
Let’s listen to this sound. What insect do you think we are learning about today? Thats right we are learning about bees! Does anybody know what we get from bees? Thats right Honey! Let's Watch this video to find out how bees make honey.
Now we are going to put some yummy honey on our morning snack!
Carefully squeeze and drizzle the honey over your waffles. Now you can enjoy them! Do you like the honey? How does it taste?
Do you remember what insect we are learning about that makes honey? That's right Bees! I have a busy bee here can we help him to count to 10 with this counting song? backing music
Busy bee has some numbers but they are all muddled up. Do you think you can help busy bee put the numbers into the correct order? (Use number cards in the classroom and a bee toy from small world area)
Lets practice counting some bees in the hive.
In small groups of 3-4 we are going to play this busy bee counting game. Can you subitise or count the number of bees on your card and move that many spaces? Who will be the winner?
