Five Senses Songslide

Today, we are learning one of the five senses - 'hearing'. Our ears are for listening so, let’s turn on our listening ears and listen to some sounds in the classroom. 

Now, let’s read a story together called 'Peace at Last' by Jill Murphy.

Time for a fun game!  We need to use our listening ears and guess what sounds we can hear? Ready?

Let’s get our shakers we made earlier and make some noise! Can you show me how to shake loudly? Now show me quietly. Let’s play along with our shakers to this song. 

We are going to make music shakers using toilet rolls, beans, and rice. We will decorate them with stickers and then shake them to hear the different sounds.

Let’s play a fun game! We're going to figure out who’s hiding under the blanket by seeing who’s missing.

First, everyone close your eyes while one friend hides under the blanket.

Now open your eyes and let’s all say together: 'Who’s under there?'

Take a look around. Who’s missing?

Ready? Close your eyes while I cover them with a blanket. I’m going to remove one toy.

Okay, open your eyes! Can you figure out which toy is missing? Let’s see how well you remember!

Let’s read our ‘Don’t Tickle a…’ story, and see if you can spot your class animal in the book!

In our book, we used our sense of touch to tickle the different animals! How did the animals feel?

Now I have popped all the items from our song into my magic bag. Can someone come and help me to pick out one item? How does it feel? Is it hard or soft?

Let’s go outside on a sense scavenger hunt! We’ll use our senses to find fluffy clouds, scented flowers, and buzzing insects. Each of you will have a clipboard and a colourful checklist to help you. Remember to pay attention to what you see, smell, touch and hear as we explore.

This week we have been learning all about our 5 senses, which senses have we learnt about so far; hearing, sight and touch. Today we are learning all about our sense of smell!

Squiggle Dance 4 - Wiggle

For the Wiggle move, we need to be laid on our tummies. 

Can you put your feet together like a mermaid?

And put your hands flat on the floor by your shoulders (like a press up)

When I say wiggle, you’re going to wiggle your whole body from side to side. Use your hands to keep steady. 

But when I say “Be still!”, you have to freeze like a statue!
