The best way to keep our body healthy is "eating a rainbow". Let's work in groups with our friends to make a beautiful rainbow.
Use different materials - pom poms, tissue paper etc.
Today we are going to learn about some very healthy foods! let’s play this game to find out which healthy food we are learning about.
Did you guess which healthy food we are learning about, that’s right, FRUIT!
Today we are going to make a fruit salad together. Would you like to see what we are going to put in our fruit salad? We have some bananas, some watermelon, some oranges and dragonfruit!
Let’s pass the fruit around the circle. What do they feel like? What do they smell like? What colours can you see?
Finally, let’s sing this fun song about bananas!
Today we are going to be ‘Teamwork Tigers’ and work as a class to make our very own fruit salad, how exciting. Can you help to chop up the bananas? Can you help to squeeze the oranges? Can you help to scoop out the watermelon and dragonfruit. Now we can put all the ingredients together to make our fruit salad that we can eat for our snack…yummy!
Let’s read this story Time to Eat about different foods. Stop at some of the pages to talk about childrens own experiences wih that type of food? Have they eaten something like that before? Did they like it?
What foods do you not like to eat? Go around the circle and allow each child to say one food they do not like.
Sometimes we are unsure to try a food we don’t know but it could be really delicious! Lets have a look at this song about trying new foods! Have a look at the book again at the last 2 pages. Go around the circle again and this time talk about a food you want to try. Use the pictures from the book to help with ides.
Can you cut out some different foods and talk about whether you like or not like eating them? Can you stick them in the correct place?
Add to WOW books.
What have we been learning about this week? That’s right—healthy eating! Can anyone name some foods that help us grow big, strong, and healthy? And what about foods we only have as special treats, like at birthday parties?
Now, let’s all sing the Vegetable Song together!
Now, we’re going to play a fun game called the Subitising Smoothie! Are you ready?
Let's play a game called 'Shopping for Fruits and Vegetables'!
Can you pick a number from the Math table? What number did you choose? Now, can you find the same number of fruits? Once you've counted them, can you match the fruits with baskets of the same colour?
Shape 3 - Round Circles
Today we are going to make this shape with our arms. Who can tell me what shape I am making?
That’s right, it’s a circle.
Can you make a circle in front of you? Starting at the top and spinning all the way down to the floor and back up.
How about the other way - anticlockwise?
Now, can you spin round to make a circle with your arms?
Can you spin the other way - anticlockwise?
Finally, can you make two big circles by your sides?
Can you do 1 at a time?
Can you do both together?
What super circles! Well done Nursery!
This week we will be observing how the children manipulate one-handed tools and see if they have a preferred hand.
This week we are learning the Makaton signs for: to sit, to stand and to walk!
