Welcome to Nursery let’s sing our good morning song together:
Now let’s put on our counting hats…pop! And count how many children are in school today!
This is your 1st time to school and in school, we love to sing songs together! Let’s sing these Nursery Favourites:
Today we will explore our new classrooms with our carers and teachers and enjoy playing together with your new friends.
Welcome to Nursery, each of our classes has a special animal, in my special bag, I have our class animal. Let's pass the bag around and have a feel, can you guess what animal is hiding inside? Yes, we are the Butterfly/Elephant/Monkey/Zebra Class.
Now let’s get out our colourful scarves, what colour do you have?
Today we will explore our new classrooms with our teachers and enjoy playing together with our friends.
Who can remember what is our class animal? Yes, that is right! Let’s learn the Makaton sign for our class animal:
Now let’s get out our egg shakers, what colour do you have?
What shall we explore today? Let's look around our classrooms and see what we find interesting, maybe the cars or the water tray!
We have so many new friends in our class! To help us learn everyone’s names, we’re going to play a fun game with our class animal soft toy.
Listen carefully:
Choo choo train, choo choo train,
Jump on board and say your name!
I’ll start. I say… (teacher says one child’s name).
Now I’ll throw our soft toy to you. When you catch it, you say your name nice and loud so all your friends can hear. Then you’ll throw the toy back to me, and we’ll keep the train going until everyone has had a turn!
That was fun, now let’s take out our beanbags, what colour do you have?
Let’s join in with these lovely beanbag songs.
What a wonderful and exciting week we have had in school, it has been great to make new friends and to get used to our Nursery daily routines. I have a story that we can share together all about starting school:
Now let’s get out our rhythm sticks, can you tap them fast, can you tap them slow?
This week we will observe the children in play and how each child is settling into school.
