GenerousGroningen

We created a blog based on walking interviews and a survey with residents of Groningen as a platform to explore the city of Groningen. The blog aims to collect and visualize take-aways from life in Groningen during the Covid-19 pandemic to ultimately increase the generosity of the city. Contents of the blog include lists with recommendations for indoor and outdoor places, new ways to explore the city during and post covid, secret nature spots and cycling guides, insights into the impact of public space on mental health, future recommendations to improve Groningen’s places in a more generous way and much more. In the forum, interaction between community members is possible and we hope to continuously create more content and keep the blog alive after this project ends.

The healthy Neighborhood

Our goal was to create a neighborhood that incorporates innovative design in three key areas of the healthy city concept with an urban planning software. Each group member chose a topic within the healthy city concept that he or she is especially interested in. We then researched approaches to make improvements in the urban planning influencing our three key areas namely food, environment and physical activity. In our subsequent study, we evaluated these approaches for feasibility and whether they could effectively be applied to a city like Groningen which we used as a template. This had the advantage that we have reliable data of the composition of our neighborhood which guided us in our planning decisions. The main aim of our project was to research, evaluate and finally display ideas how city planning can ameliorate public health.

The Creative City

Hey everyone this is an interactive, virtual tour of Groningen! Its aim is to introduce the city to new students who are coming to study at Groningen, in the Netherlands in a fun manner. The tour consists of a historical path and an art path which you will be able to choose based on the videos. Hopefully, it provides you with insights to help you settle in the city

Improving the Helperpark

The aim of this project was to improve a specific location and put those recommendations in the physical model we have built. It all started by us having 3 different interests for cities: interaction, inclusiveness and pandemic-friendliness. These 3 perspectives have 1 thing in common: the social part. Therefore, there was no better location to look at than a park. We found the Helperpark which is located in the south of Groningen and started to interview people, spread surveys, and also do research. Come to our presentation to see what our results are!
