Nate Menifield

Music Educator

An active baritone vocalist, I love to make music whenever and wherever I can. What I love even more, though, is helping others to discover and explore their own relationships with music, and I'm thrilled to do just that as the director of vocal music at Freeport High School!

After beginning my postsecondary education concentrating in French Studies at Harvard College, I eventually realized my passion for music education and transferred to the University of Southern Maine School of Music, where I earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Classical Voice and Choral Music in 2009.

For nine years, I served as the choral director at Kennebunk High School (ME), where I also taught courses in piano, music history/theory, and French. Since 2012, I've been honored to perform, adjudicate competitions, and guest conduct honors festivals throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and California. In 2017, I earned my Master of Arts Degree in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from Stanford University (CA), and have worked as an arts specialist for the Maine Department of Education since July 2018.

A resident of Brunswick, ME, I enjoy spending my time outside of rehearsal with my music teacher husband, Ben, and our rambunctious black lab, Toby!
