Selection Criteria/Process:
All incoming freshmen students and any current freshmen or sophomore students can apply for the OTHS Humanities Diploma.
To be accepted, students and their parents/guardians must agree to successfully complete all program requirements.
Any applicant may be interviewed by the Humanities Diploma Committee.
Program Requirements (summary)
Succeed in a challenging and diverse Humanities course load, of which at least three are college-level. Performance in the standards of this coursework must be at the proficient-to-superior level. I

2 Humanities Symposia experiences
Complete the third year of a World Language (in some circumstances taking fewer than three years of multiple languages, such as 2 years of Wabanaki language and 2 years of French, may meet the goal of expanding students’ perspectives of languages in the humanities. These will be approved case-by-case by the committee)
Participate in the equivalent of 2 years of documented co-curricular / extra-curricular activities related to the Humanities
Complete a Humanities-related capstone project of superior quality. In or separately from this capstone demonstrate proficiency in modern research methods
Complete a structured field engagement / immersion in the humanities totaling 40 hours, at least 20 of which must be service related. The field effort must include written and oral presentation to peers at the conclusion.
Participate in 8 Humanities Seminars
Students shall maintain an honorable academic career, free of plagiarism and cheating.
