The Evans Memorial Library at Leonard Middle School was established when the school was built in 1969. Located on the first floor around the corner from the main office, the library houses a diverse collection of books, a makerspace, and a library classroom space. The Evans Memorial Library aims to provide a space for students to read, learn, and develop both creative and analytical skills.

The library's mission is to be the heart of the school, a welcoming space that fosters a love for reading, promotes information literacy skills, and provides an environment where students can imagine, create, and explore. The library supports students both intellectually and socially as they grow to become lifelong learners and engaged citizens.
This is Lydia Balestra's first year as librarian at J. A. Leonard Middle School. She previously served as an adjunct instructor and assistant director of composition at the University of Maine. Miss Lydia is passionate about learning and teaching others. Her duties at LMS include teaching creative electives and Unified Arts such as library class and jewelry-making, and managing our library space.
