Each ACE student's support is individualized, based on needs and goals as outlined on the student's ILP. For all students in the ACE program, the ACE Advisor will work with the classroom teacher/s to coordinate plans and ensure that programming targets the goal areas. In some cases the ACE Advisor will work directly with students as their ACE teacher; in other cases the ACE Advisor may provide consultation to classroom teachers. We use and/or combine three general instructional approaches to meet the needs of advanced learners: acceleration, curriculum compacting, enrichment & extension. Below are some of the ways in which a student's ACE support may incpororate these strategies to build on identified areas of strength.
Differentiation within the classroom.
Access to flexible groups across classrooms to address specific needs and interests
Acceleration in core classes if appropriate to address need(s)
Information for parents concerning extracurricular opportunities
Learning support by an ACE Advisor within the classroom or in pull-out groups
Differentiation within the classroom whenever possible
Learning support within the classroom or in pull-out groups with the ACE Teacher.
Specialized courses, either with the ACE teacher or online.
Mentoring programs for visual & performing arts.
Information for parents concerning extracurricular opportunities.

Students share projects they are working on in their middle school art class and artists share connections with their own work and artistic journeys, emphasizing the process of making art and what’s learned along the way. Fostering students’ courage and confidence and helping students notice and appreciate their progress are also important aspects of the work.

Juniors and Seniors have additional opportunities through Capstone Projects, which will include studio visits and CMCA vistis. The end of the year culmination is an art show.
