Mr. Manus Mongkolsuk

The Dean

History

The Faculty of Radiological Technology, Rangsit University founded in 2015 as the first private institute in Thailand that produces graduates with professional expertise in Radiological Technology.

In 2015, there were around 4,000 registered Radiological Technologists in Thailand, most of which worked in the health service sectors both private and government. It has seen that the registered RTs love to work in the private sector because of higher salary and allowances. However, it is clear that there have been still very much shortages of RTs for a number of years. Due to the rising demand for health care services, combined with new and expanding medical radiation technologies are correlated to an increase in demand for RTs across the public and private sectors.

In the past decades, there are about 180 RT graduates per year that completed from just only major three institutions, accredited by the Thai RT professional committee, that teach Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology programs. Those institutions are Mahidol University, Chiang Mai University, and Naresuan University.

After Associate Professor Manus Mongkolsuk retired from Mahidol University at the end of 2015, Dr. Arthit Ourairat, the President of Rangsit University, invited him to set up the Faculty of Radiological Technology at Rangsit University.

There were many persons who have been assisting Associate Professor Manus Mongkolsuk in the establishment. For example, many alumni who graduated from Mahidol University and working in high standard and high-quality hospitals, especially those working in BDMS (Bangkok Dusit Medical Services). There are also unforgettable persons, Mr. Sara Ubolchai who is the President of the Thai Society of Radiological Technologists (TSRT), Dr. Napapong Pongnapang (the head of the department of radiological technology, Mahidol University)

Nowadays, there are 11 universities that produce RT graduates. It estimates that there will be 330 RT graduates in the year 2019 and step up to 500 RT graduates per year in the next three years.

Rangsit University has started student enrollments since its first batch in 1986 (33 years ago) under the name of Rangsit College. Later on, since July 31, 1990, the institution has changed its status and named “Rangsit University”. The curriculums are broadly categorized into five groups as follows:

Currently there are total of 141 programs; 94 undergraduate programs for, 37 Master Degree programs, 1 Graduate Diploma and 9 Doctoral Degree programs.
