What's in a CRT?
Minerals make it happen!
When were CRT t.v's popular?
CRTs were once synonymous with television. By 1960, nearly 90 percent of American households had one. But at the turn of the millennium, their popularity rapidly decayed as LCD panels flooded the market.
In which part of the CRT T.V are these elements in?
Alumniun
Aluminum is used in the picture tube of a T.V. It is made of precision glass that is shaped to have a slightly curved plate at the front or screen. When the tube is manufactured a coating is then overlaid with a thin film of aluminum that lets electrons pass through. The aluminum serves as a mirror to prevent light from bouncing back into the tube.
Strontium
"Strontium carbonate was used in faceplate glass to block X-ray emissions from colour cathode ray tubes (CRTs) in older-model televisions." 75% of the US strontium usage was used in CRTs, but as the new technology of flat panel display rose, there has been a massive decline in the strontium industry.
Nickel
According to carpentertechnolog, Nickel is used for alloys that minimize cryogenic shrinkage. For example, a 36% nickel-iron alloy is used more recently for shadow masks in high-definition CRT (television) tubes.
