Derek is a 1995 graduate of Lafayette High School. He was the point guard for the '95 District Championship team that defeated a state-ranked Eureka Wildcat team in the District Championships. That year, Derek earned All Conference and District honors and was named a team captain. He also received the Jason Struble Memorial Scholarship.
Derek continued his education at Central Missouri State University, eventually earning a degree in Middle School Education with a minor in Mathematics. He was a student assistant for the Mules Head Basketball Coach Bob Sundvold during the 1995-1996 season. Derek was also a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and was named President in 1999.
His career in teaching and coaching started in the year 2000 at MHS. He served as the freshman coach at MHS his first 6 seasons before moving to the varsity assistant position where he spent 11 years. Derek then spent 6 years at the JV level and a year back at varsity assistant before taking over as head coach in 2024-2025. He was named the MSHSAA assistant coach of the year in 2015-2016. His coaching career also included an undefeated 2002-2003 season at the freshman level.
Derek, his wife Rhiannon, and his daughters Ava and Sophia call the Ballwin area home.
Joe graduated from St. John Vianney High School in 2000, where he was a standout athlete in both football and basketball. He furthered his education at the University of Central Missouri, earning a degree in Physical Education, and later obtained a Master's degree from Missouri Baptist. Joe's teaching and coaching career commenced in 2006 at Clayton High School, where he served on both the basketball and football coaching staffs until 2013. For the past 11 years, he has dedicated his time to Marquette, holding various teaching positions, including Driver Education, PFW, and Freshman Seminar. Joe has been an integral part of the Marquette basketball program for 10 years, serving as both the Freshman Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach. He also contributed to the Marquette football program for 9 years.
Joe, his wife Bridget and sons Joe and Nate call the Wildwood area home.
Brandon Hogan is excited to begin a new season of Marquette basketball as a varsity assistant coach. He has a tremendous amount of high school coaching experience and knowledge for the game of basketball. He is a student of the game and well respected by his coaching peers. His basketball philosophy revolves around three principles of development: to help shape the lives of young people by instilling values and discipline, to motivate each student athlete to reach their full academic potential, and to teach each player to be the most complete basketball player possible.
Prior to arriving at Marquette, Hogan was the varsity assistant and head JV coach for 9 successful seasons at Whitfield School. In that time, he helped lead them to 2 state final fours, 1 elite eight, and 3 district championships. He also coached many elite level players whose accolades included the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year in 2018 and 3 all-state athletes.
Prior to Whitfield, Hogan started his coaching career at Brentwood High School where he was a varsity assistant and head JV coach. He helped guide the team to back-to-back conference championships for the first time in school history.
Hogan played basketball at Fredericktown High School located in Southeast Missouri. He was an all- conference selection, 3-year varsity starter, team captain, and the Most Valuable Player of his team. After a highly successful high school playing career, he attended Missouri State University where he earned a degree in Architecture and Design.
Brandon, his wife Stephanie and their daughter Avery reside in Wildwood, MO.
Eric graduated from Marquette high school in 2010 where he was a member of the Marquette basketball program. The highlight of his time in the program was beating Coach Schultz in a game of PIG to earn the right to shoot 3s in games his sophomore year.
He continued his education at UMSL where he got his degree in finance. He went on to get his masters in finance from Webster University. Upon graduation, Eric began working at State Street in Kansas City before moving back to St. Louis to be a stock broker at Scottrade. He then moved on to his current role in compliance at Edward Jones
Eric began his coaching career coaching AAU basketball for KC Premiere where he coached at multiple levels over 2 years. Once back in St. Louis he joined the the Marquette staff as a varsity assistant for the 2016-2017 season. He then moved to a JV assistant role for 6 seasons before taking over as the head JV coach in 2023.
Eric currently resides in St. Charles with his wife Molly and daughter Jordyn. They are expecting daughter number 2 in April 2025
AJ is a 2010 graduate of Marquette High School. He returned to coach at Marquette in 2023 where he spent a year as the JV assistant coach, and took over a role as the freshmen head coach in 2024.
AJ attended the University of Missouri as well as Lindenwood University. For the past 16 years, he has worked in the pool maintenance industry.
AJ previously coached JV baseball at Parkway West High School and spent 8 years as a media member covering St Louis area high school basketball as a part of 314 Hoops. In addition, he spent time covering Mizzou basketball recruiting as part of the Rivals Network for PowerMizzou.com.
AJ and his girlfriend Chelsey are currently living in St Charles.
