Read for fun over the summer. Traditional books, graphic novels, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, audiobooks, ebooks -- they all count! For instructions to access books online, check out this handout: E-reads access link.
Before the deadline on August 31st, design an original project that fits the criteria below and turn it in at the MHS Library.

Below are the criteria for MHS Summer Reading Challenge.
To be eligible to win, your project must...
Focus on at least one book that you read during summer break 2026
Explore a key message, theme, scene, or character from the book(s)
Depict the book(s), reading, literacy, and/or libraries in a positive light
Be your own original work
Not be created with the help of artificial intelligence tools of any kind (human generated text and images only)
Your project will be displayed in the library shortly after the deadline. Students and staff will vote for their favorite based on creativity, presentation, and adherance to these criteria. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Holmes or Mrs. Sharitz.
Deadline: 4:00pm on August 31, 2026
Your project can be nearly anything so long as it meets the criteria above.

Ideas:
Design a vision board inspired by your reading
Film a short reenactment of your favorite scene from a book (max length 3 minutes)
Bake or cook a dish that represents your book
Create a diorama or collage
Paint or sketch a picture
Write an original poem or song inspired by your reading
Create a graphic novel version of your reading (inspiration linked here: graphic novel project)
Compile a scrapbook for a character from your book
Design a social media account for one of your favorite characters
