Concerts

Concert Participation is MANDATORY

Choir is a performance-based class.  If you are not present for performances you are not fulfilling a very essential element of the class.  We adhere to the following policy:

Members of performing musical organizations are to be present at all performances except in the case of personal sickness, death in the family or extenuating circumstances approved by the Director and/or Principal.

All Choir students receive a schedule of activities and performances for the year.  Students/families are to consult the schedule and plan in advance for these dates. (Work, Driver’s Ed, Family Vacations, Badger Conference Athletic Events, etc.)

ANY ABSENCE will result in the concert grade of 0. If the absence is excused (which must be verified with a note, email or phone call from parent/guardian), you will have TWO WEEKS or until the end of the semester (whichever comes first) to complete the following make-up assignment.

●     You must sing all of your concert music live with Mrs. Sporakowski. Full credit on the singing portion can equal half credit for the concert.

●     You must write a Concert Critique Essay by watching the recorded performance of the concert and evaluating the performance using the WSMA Concert Rubric (found on my website).  Full credit on the written portion can equal half credit for the concert.

Students assume the responsibility for making up all missed work. In the event of any excused absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the director and discuss material missed or obtain additional help.
