Physical Education for Grade 3-5


Behavior Passport Book:

We will go over this when we see you in-person.

Respect:

Your classmates, yourself, the equipment, and the adults in the classroom.

Entering and Leaving the Gymnasium and/or Outdoor P.E. Fields:

Listening squad line: quiet, calm, ready to listen, ready to start and/or end class.

Walk means walk.

Sit down on your assigned spot…..no passing others.

No Sliding (when you enter the gym as well as during class activities).

Level 0 with your voice.

Hands to yourself at all times.

Clothes:

Tennis shoes are required at all times.

Remove loose hanging jewelry and/or your glasses if you do not need them for class. Bring appropriate clothes (sweatshirts/coats) for classes being held outdoors.

Put sweatshirts or extra clothing items in the entryway where you came in away from others.

If you don’t have tennis shoes you will ride a stationary bike or walk laps around the gym/P.E. fields rather than the assigned activity for safety reasons.

General Rules:

Only one person can be talking at a time. If you have a question or comment, please raise your hand, and wait for your turn.

Follow directions the first time given.

The whistle and/or music will be used to signal the start and end of activity time. When an activity is paused or ended, please make sure your body as well as any equipment you are using are still and quiet.

Running is only allowed during activity time and assigned game play.

No screaming.

No gum/candy.

If a ball gets stuck in the bleachers do not climb on the bleachers to get the ball out. The teacher will get the ball out.

Time-Outs:

Behavior, actions, and decisions that are disrespectful or dangerous/unsafe may result in a time out. You will sit out until you are under control and ready to listen/talk in a calm manner.


Teasing/Bullying:

Zero tolerance! Please let your P.E. teacher know immediately if you are being teased/bullied so we can help solve the problem.


Water Fountains:

Are only to be used with permission.

Bathroom:

Please try to get in the habit of using the restroom before or after class during passing time.

Lock down:

Travel silently to the locker room and listen for the teacher’s instructions.

Fire drill:

Silently follow the teacher to the exterior doors in the gymnasium to line up and leave the building.

Tornado:

Travel silently to the locker room and listen for the teacher’s instructions.

Grades: You will be assessed in physical education in the following 3 areas:

1. Demonstrate motor skills and patterns for a variety of physical activities.

2. Demonstrate knowledge of key physical activity, fitness, and health concepts.

3. Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.
