Classroom Curriculum
The curriculum in my classroom is geared towards each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). These IEPs guide my educational plan each week, therefore, the strategies used may look different from student to student depending upon their individual needs. Generally, I teach formal reading, written language, and math classes each day as well as some social skills support and instruction. The program also offers study skills instruction and academic assistance to students during their study halls, tests, or any other general education assignment with which my students need help.
Classroom Expectations
Since I primarily work with sixth grade students, I do adhere to the general sixth grade expectations as well as the sixth grade grading scale. This makes transition from the regular education classroom to my room fairly easy and less confusing or students. Along with this, however, my students are held to three primary expectations of behavior:
Respect yourself and others
Take responsibility for yourself and your actions
Always give your personal best
