, Theatre technologies refer to:
Theatre-specific technologies used throughout the production process (i.e.: things that are used to enhance work within theatre production - lighting gobos, fly systems, rotation devices, pulley systems)
Other technologies that are used more generally to assist the production process, such as internet, social media, online communication platforms (google docs, Zoom)
Theatre technologies is not itself a production role, however, production roles like sound and lighting are heavily reliant on theatre technologies within their work.
TECHNOLOGY
//definition//
TECHNOLOGY is the practical application of knowledge, especially in a particular area
The application of knowledge, techniques, and tools to adapt and control physical environments and material resources to satisfy wants and needs.
Theatre technologies can be classified into three categories
Digital: lighting/sound design app or software program; a computer generated backdrop or video recording used in performance
Electrical: a lighting desk; a sound mixing board; theatre lights, sound amplifier
Mechanical: a trapdoor; pulley system; revolving stage
THEATRE TECHNOLOGIES USED TO DOCUMENT, RECORD AND EVALUATE YOUR WORK:
using a mobile device to record and play back rehearsals for critical feedback from self, peer, critical friend
use of design and drawing software tools to create set designs
uploading sketches of design ideas to a website for others to see in order to develop them further, both individually and collaboratively
documenting online concepts for a script interpretation using individual or group blogs
developing group or whole-class discussions on a web forum
developing a production meeting template in order to: share documents, circulate decisions about production areas and circulate agreed actions to be undertaken by the collaborative team before the next production meeting
designing, producing and distributing marketing and ticketing materials for a production using software and social media
using mobile devices to record and store multimedia material for use in the production, such as images, sounds
using a software application to block a scene

Please note: there isn't a set list, beyond what is mentioned above, of what you need to know in terms of theatre technologies, as it depends on what is available and accessible to individual schools and students.
